Because even navigators need to know where to head

The Deck Skills program is designed to train cadets in areas not directly taught within the MT program. Watchstanding skills, cruise duties, and practical, hands-on experience form the basis of the program, and to enforce that, there will be periodic testing and sign-offs required.

At right is a list of topic areas to be studied for the first test. Each topic area is a chapter/lesson in the Deck Training workbook, found in print on the Quarterdeck or online here: http://deckskills.tripod.com/watch_training_workbook.html
