-Radiative Equilibrium Temperature - the
temperature achieved when an object behaving as a blackbody is absorbing and emitting radiation at equal rates
Cooling – the process by which the earth’s surface and adjacent air cool by emitting infrared radiation
Inversion – an increase in temperature with height due to radiational cooling of the earth’s surface.
Also called a nocturnal inversion.
