To Solve for Final Position:
If given P1 and a course and distance, work backward through the equations to find what you need. Use sin C = p/D to solve for the displacement (p), then solve for l using tan C = p/l.  p can then be converted into DLo using p = DLo cos L2. As you know the initial L1 and l1, simply add or subtract l and DLo to find L2 and l2.

sin C = p/D
sin 54.69 = p/398
p = 324.75nm

L1: 34°06N
l: 3°50’ (S)
L2: 30°16’N

Back to Plane Sailings

L1: 34°06N
l1: 146°32 E
Cn = 234.69° T
C = S 54.69° W

D = 398nm

p = DLo cos L2
324.75 =  DLo cos 30.2667
DLo = 376' (W) = 6°16‘ (W)

l1: 146°32 E
DLo: 6°16 (W)
l2: 140°16‘ E
