Because The Robots Haven't Replaced Us Yet... Entirely

Here's how the scheduling works:

-Your divisional watchbill is either posted online below or in the classroom building hallway. Though they are posted in both places, the two versions may not match, and the one online is considered the official one.

-You check the watchbill to see if you are scheduled.

-During the week, Watches are scheduled for 1600-2000, 2000-0000, 0000-0400, and 0400-0800, and on the weekends there are additional watches from 0800-1200, and 1200-1600. Depending on your division, on the weekends, whoever has the 1600-2000 will also have the 0400-0800 watch, the 1200-1600 will have the 0000-0400, and the 2000-0000 will have the 0800-1200. Weekends aren't much fun.

-Be at the Quarterdeck (at the top of the gangway) at least 15 minutes before the hour (0745 for a 0800 watch), or you'll be late. If you show up at the top of the hour (0800 for a 0800 watch) you'll be screwed and you'll have just screwed your buddy out of 15 minutes of, well, not being on watch.

-If you cannot make it to watch, you need to find someone to take your place and fill out a watch exchange form. You can usually find these in the Student Center next to the back door in a file box on the wall. Both you and your exchangee buddy, as well as several corps officers need to sign this form before it is considered complete. You may also want to just give the Night Mate for that watch a heads up to let him know you'll have a stand-in. If you simply don't show up, there will be serious demerits with your name on them.

What to bring:
-Flashlight: a maglite or brighter
-Notepad: small, pocket-sized
-Pen
-Knife
-Ballcap
-Jacket: depending on time of year (only CMA black jacket or N-1 are allowed)
-I recommend steel-toed boots. The decks and ladders will scuff up your Bates.
